Invitation for Evesham Schools – The Happy Pear Healthy Eating Event Friday 18th September

We invite schools across Evesham to take part in an exciting and inspiring initiative designed to promote healthy eating, wellbeing, and a deeper understanding of the rich horticultural heritage of the Vale of Evesham.

As part of this mission, we are delighted to be welcoming The Happy Peartwo of the UK and Ireland’s most well-known plant-based chefs, authors and educators—to Evesham on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th September.

Why this matters

Encouraging healthy eating habits from a young age is vital.

At the same time, helping young people understand where food comes from—and the importance of fresh, locally grown produce—is especially relevant here in Evesham, given our proud horticultural history.

About The Happy Pear

The Happy Pear are internationally recognised for their work in promoting healthy, accessible plant-based eating. Over the past 20 years, they have:

  • Delivered hundreds of school and community workshops, inspiring children and families to cook and eat better

  • Built a global following through bestselling cookbooks, social media, and educational programmes

  • Worked with schools, councils and communities to improve food education and accessibility

  • Helped millions of people take simple steps towards healthier diets

Their approach is fun, energetic, and highly engaging for young people—making healthy food feel exciting, achievable, and relevant.

Friday 18th September – Schools Event

We are inviting Evesham schools to participate in a live, interactive food demonstration at the Lenches outdoor amphitheatre, starting at 12:30pm (approx. 1.5 hours).

  • Capacity: up to 300 pupils in total

  • Initial allocation: up to 20 pupils per school (to ensure broad representation across Evesham)

  • Format: engaging demonstrations, audience interaction, and practical inspiration around healthy eating

  • Outcome: pupils leave with new ideas, enthusiasm, and a positive mindset around food and wellbeing

A unique shared experience

As part of the event, we are also planning a large-scale creative installation, where pupils will help create a giant “Evesham” display using cardboard fruit and vegetable shapes.

This will:

  • Celebrate Evesham’s food heritage

  • Encourage creativity and teamwork

  • Create a powerful visual moment captured by drone photography

  • Potentially attract regional and national media coverage, showcasing Evesham and its schools in a positive light

Saturday 19th September – Community Event

On the Saturday, The Happy Pear will lead further live demonstrations in Evesham Market Square, alongside local fruit and vegetable traders. We would encourage schools to share this with families, as it will be a fantastic free community event celebrating healthy food and local produce.

Why your school should be involved

This is a rare opportunity to:

  • Provide pupils with a memorable, curriculum-enhancing experience

  • Reinforce key health and wellbeing messages

  • Connect learning to Evesham’s local identity and economy

  • Be part of a high-profile initiative with meaningful impact across the town

How to get involved

If your school would like to take part, please visit:

www.eveshamplaceboard.org.uk/contact-us  page to register your interest.

Once we have confirmed numbers, we will follow up with:

We would love to see every school in Evesham represented in what promises to be an inspiring and impactful event for our young people and wider community.

Thank you for your support.
